Prita Chhabra Announced as Performer at 2011 IIFA Awards Events

Recording artist Prita Chhabra spoke alongside Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti about her upcoming performance at the Markham Bollywood Extravaganza, as part of an IIFA Awards press conference held on June 1 in the Toronto municipality of Markham (Ontario).

As part of their IIFA BUZZ Markham festivities, Markham will host the largest Bollywood extravaganza to ever take place in their community on June 18, with the day-long celebrations centered at the Markham Civic Centre.

Prita will be featured at the Markham Bollywood extravaganza alongside Abhijeet Sawant, winner of the first season of Indian Idol ; MTV award-winning band JoSH ; and actress Lisa Ray, celebrity host for the event.

On May 28, Prita was also announced as the headliner of an IIFA BUZZ Albion-Islington “Bollywood Spice” fundraising event, taking place June 10 at Elite Banquet Centre in Toronto. On June 19, Prita will also be performing at an IIFA BUZZ Mississauga “Bollywood Under The Stars” outdoor movie screening, being held at Mississauga’s new Celebration Square.

With a viewership of over 600 million worldwide, the IIFA Weekend is the largest celebration of Indian cinema and the IIFA Awards is among the most-watched global events, annually.

The IIFA’s have been celebrated in London, Sun City, Johannesburg, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Amsterdam, Yorkshire, Bangkok, Macau and most recently in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This year, IIFA will celebrate its 12th anniversary in Toronto, Canada from June 23rd – 25th, 2011.
