Music What's Happenin'

Mo Sabri represents his hometown, Johnson City, Tennessee!

It’s easy to see why Mo Sabri is referred to as an “overnight classic”.  After starting his hip-hop music career less than a year ago, the 20 year-old rapper has played sold out shows all across America, received thousands of YouTube views and iTunes downloads, and has been interviewed on national networks such as CNN.

He has accomplished what others would find impossible to do at this early stage of his career; he is already associated with world-class artists such as B.o.B’ s as he makes a cameo appearance B.o.B’s tour video. Sabri’s own tour music video features endorsements from celebrities such as comedian Aziz Ansari. Constantly touring the nation and winning supporters, this Tennessee native is known for getting the entire crowd involved in his performances.

Sabri is a man of roots, never forgetting where he came from: Johnson City, Tennessee. And his new hit song, ‘Johnson City, Tennessee,’ is sure one to show this.

“I’ve been repping my hometown as I tour across the nation. I wrote ‘Johnson City, Tennessee’ because I have grown up there and it’s basically a tribute to the place I call home.” Mo Sabri explains, “We filmed the music video over the course of an entire year, showing the people and places around town. Even though some parts of the video are pretty specific to the town, people don’t need to be native to the area to identify with the overall idea of hometown support. The guitar gives a Southern vibe to the song, but the montage of Johnson City natives shows the message of a people that are finally on the map.”

Within a week of its release, the video for “Johnson City, Tennessee” is nearing 20,000 views and the local response and support is overwhelming.  Mo Sabri’s solo album Overnight Classic is slated for release later this year.
