Manish Acharya dies

Filmmaker Manish Acharya, best known for his flick “Loins of Punjab” died yesterday in a freak accident after he fell off a horse in Matheran.  The 40 year old filmmaker had been in Matheran since December 2nd.  Manish’s other major film credits included “Luck By Chance” and the animated tale “Sita Sings the Blues” where he did a voice over.  The talented writer/actor had graduated with an MFA in Film Directing from the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

The film industry is stunned by this sudden loss.  Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan tweeted: “Its sad to hear about Manish Acharya… RIP.”  Priyanka Chopra tweeted: “My friend, future director, super funny wannabe beach bum and unbelievable human being. @ManishAcharya .RIP. Im too shocked to say more (sic).”  Sonam Kapoor tweeted from Patiala, “Just found out about @ManishAcharya what a horrible horrible tragedy. Met him before coming here. Love and condolences to his family…”

Manish is the third young filmmaker who the industry has lost this year.  The other two were Sourabh Usha Narang and Pankaj Advani.

RIP Manish.
