Review By: Manisha Karki
Love Aaj Kal is a story of two lovers – Veer and Zoe played by Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan.

In the story, Zoe complicates the relationship between balancing her personal with Veer and her professional life. In their life enters Raj -played by Randeep Hooda, who tells her his love tale – Raghu and Lina played by Kartik and Aarushi Sharma.
He draws similarities between Veer with Raghu, who he was when he was young, and Zoe start assuming his story like hers, overthinking and messing around everything in the film.
The film start showcasing and comparing both the era (1990 and 2020). It will take you on an emotional ride with Veer and Zoe’s relation but you may miss the romance between them. As an audience you will relate to the old school love of Raghu and Leena.
The film has beautifully showcased the small and stupid things people do when they fall in love, in this story.
The first half of the film is slow and will make you enjoy the story of Raj, while this Raj may make you emotional in the second half. The story has a similar storyline as the earlier release Love Aaj Kal (2009). So why should one watch this film? One should watch this film to know what happens in the end with so many complex things going on around each character.
If you look at the direction, Imtiaz Ali has done his job well with ever scene and the screenplay.
Right from the background score to the cinematography is good. But no story can be perfect and this story too has some faults, especially when it comes to Raghu’s looks. There is a scene when Raghu decides to meet Leena after five years and the look he sports is badly done.
If we look at the music of the film, it goes in sync with the scenes. There are many chartbuster hits songs like Shayad, Haan Main Galat, Mehrama and more.
Talking about performances, Kartik Aaryan’s attempt to do something different is a success. He has played both characters – Veer and Raghu – well.
The character of Raghu is the better of the two characters played by Kartik – you will love watching him here. Sara Ali Khan was trying to fit in to the role of Zoe but turned out loud. Aarushi Sharma’s simplicity will win all hearts, she was the perfect choice for the role of Leena.
As, Imtiaz Ali said, we save the best for the last, we feel the same – the best character is Raj played by Randeep Hooda, he is just so perfect. He was magical on-screen and at points you might also get carried along with his emotions.
We, with all our heart, give the Love Aaj Kal 3 stars. It is a one-time watch film and you can enjoy your day with this film.
