Her career has also hit a roadblock and as she tries to bond with her cousin Tia played by Ananya Panday, she meets her fiance Zain played by Siddhant Chaturvedi. Alisha and Zain begin an affair behind Tia’s back.

Tia & Karan, unaware of the same, continue to love their partners as passionately as before. The chaos begins when Al asks Zain to confess their relationship to Tia. Amid the personal & professional mess, the lives of all four characters drastically change.

The Shakun Batra directorial complex love drama is just remarkable. Each emotions, each scene can be felt and it draws you into its immersive narrative, which tells us, life and is its choices of each characters.

Talking about the performances, Deepika and Siddhant, as Alisha and Zain, are sincere in their roles; attractive and responsive with an instinctive ability for calm expression and restrained emotions. They create a completely trustworthy pair of complementary forces.

Supporting them with equal fervour are Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa as Tia and Karan. They both are impressive and earnest.

Naseeruddin Shah as Alisha’s laid-back dad, and Rajat Kapoor as Zain’s cold and calculating colleague, are both stoically effective but perfunctorily limited by the script.

Mounted with ace production values, cinematographer Kaushal Shah’s location shots, inland or over water, in Alibaug or in Mumbai, look grim and evocative, perfectly in line with the film’s breathtaking rhythm.

Gehraiyaan will keep you hooked till the end.
