‘Never Have I Ever’ renewed for second season by Netflix

Never Have I Ever fans, it’s time to get ready.

Netflix has officially renewed the comedy show for a second season. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan will continue to star in the show alongside Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez and Ramona Young.

Never Have I Ever loved a show so much

The series, co-created by Lang Fisher and Mindy Kaling, features the story of first-generation Indian American Devi Vishwakumar. Furthermore, Never Have I Ever uncovers themes like sexuality, family issues, and high school stress. Devi had just lost her social status at school as she had spent six months in a wheelchair after losing her father.

The show received high ratings from audiences after releasing in late April, and many commended the show for its focus on breaking Indian stereotypes in America. Soon enough, Netflix made the decision to renew due to the positive response.

The cast celebrated in quarantine style on Twitter, by releasing a short video featuring beloved Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s bangs.

Netflix has not announced when they will begin shooting. However, the cast and production team are beyond excited to begin again on this special show.

As Maitreyi Ramakrishnan herself stated in a previous interview with Urban Asian, “Brown girls are just regular girls that don’t need to be squeezed into stereotypical boxes labeled ‘exotic’. This isn’t a ‘brown’ show but rather a great show about a regular family trying to figure things out, something everybody can relate to.”
