Diana Penty: I Want To Get It Out Of Everyone’s Head That I’m Choosy

Diana Penty, who made her dubut in 2012 film Cocktail, is now seen in this week’s release, Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran.

When asked her what she found special about the film, she says,

“The story was the number one reason for me. The 1998 nuclear tests happened when I was in school. At that time, I didn’t really know much about the subject. I knew that India successfully conducted these nuclear tests and after that we became a nuclear power. This was followed by all economic and other sanctions that followed. I didn’t know anything further than that. When I heard the one-liner of the film, I felt it was interesting. I felt it was a piece of history and a big event for us Indians. When I actually read the script and spoke to director Abhishek, about what actually happened in 1998, I was shocked about the information that we don’t have. We don’t know the kind of preparations involved and we don’t know that we had to conduct the tests when the CIA wasn’t watching. There were many elements that made it a phenomenal story to tell.”

The actor, who went on to do films like Happy Bhaag Jayegi and Lucknow Central, insists that she’s not choosy. She says,

“I sign films and scripts that I find special and interesting. I want to get it out of everyone’s head that I’m choosy because for some reason, everyone’s under the misconception that I’m very picky and choosy when it comes to films. That’s not true. It’s just that I want to associate with films that I genuinely believe in.”

Point taken, Diana.
