Tu Meri Rani is not a hit new song – it’s a hit new-old song. The original record was released in 2016, performed by Guru Randhawa and California-based South Asian rapper, Haji Springer. The song had always been super hot, especially amongst Punjabi and ‘urban desi’ music listeners. But the limits of the song didn’t end there — quite to the contrary, it’s been reborn—into the mainstream world of Bollywood!
The song (without Haji’s rap verse) is part of an upcoming Bollywood comedy-drama film, titled Tumhari Sulu. Vidya Balan plays the lead actress/heroine role, alongside Manav Kaul (who plays her husband). Neha Dupia is also part of the cast. Tumhari Sulu is expected to hit theaters on the 17th of November, so mark your calendars!
