Diwali Special: Superhit Bollywood Movies Released On Diwali

Diwali is an auspicious day, and Bollywood believes in the goodness and blessing one receives on this day. This can be easily seen with the number of big budget films released on this day. All these films went on to get really good returns at the Box-Office.

Check out the top Diwali releases of the past decade:

2007 – Om Shanti Om

Om Shanti Om starring Shah Rukh Khan and debutant Deepika Padukone was a blockbuster inspite of its box-office clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Sawaariya.

2008 – Golmaal Returns & Fashion

Both movies faired really well at the ticket windows. While Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Returns was an all-out fun entertainer, Fashion by Madhur Bhandarkar dealt with the life of models in the fashion industry.

2009 – All The Best

This Rohit Shetty comedy bought a smile on everyones face who watched it. It had a stellar cast consisting of Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Mugdha Godse, Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever and others.

2010 – Golmaal 3

Golmaal 3, another Rohit Shetty directorial was a massive hit at the box-office.

2011 – Ra.One

This Shah Rukh Khan-Kareena Kapoor sci-fic was a massive hit. A first of its kind in Bollywood it really attracted the crowds.

2012 – Jab Tak Hai Jaan

It was the last film directed by Yash Chopra and starred Shah Rkh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Besides the story the film was also applauded for its music.

2013 – Krrish 3

This flick on the Indian superhero Krrish starred Hrithik Roshan in dual roles along with Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi.

2014 – Happy New Year

Farah Khan directed Happy New Year was full of fun and drama. It starred Shah Rukh, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff and Boman Irani in the lead.

2015 – Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

This family drama by Sooraj Barjatya starring Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in the lead was a huge success.

2016 – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil & Shivaay

Last year it was a major clash between Karan Johar’s Ae Dil HaiMushkil and Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay. While ADHM was a romantic film, Shivaay was leaned more towards drama. Inspite on releasing on the same day – and straining the relationship between Kajol and KJo – they both worked well at the ticket counters.

This Diwali sees the release of two anticipated films – Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar and Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again. While Secret Superstar deals with the aspirations of a young girl wanting to become a singer; Golmaal Again is the fourth installment of the fun movie franchise.

We wish you all a Happy Diwali.
