From the Oscars, the Emmys, the Billboards and the recent MET Gala, to being splashed across hoardings in America and being on the biggest talk shows in the West, Hollywood just can’t seem to get enough of Priyanka Chopra !
The international superstar who makes her big Hollywood debut alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in ‘Baywatch’, was the most talked about star in the reviews that came the film’s way.
The critics and international media referred to her as the “highlight of the film”, “extremely commanding” and “incredibly talented”, demanding to see more of the actress, despite the film being an out-and-out commercial comedy starring the likes of Hollywood’s highest paid actor Dwayne Johnson and heartthrob Zac Efron.
Playing the couture loving, badass, Victoria Leeds, who enjoys the high life and her high heels, Johnson knew he found the perfect villain in Priyanka Chopra – He said:
“We needed someone with weight as an actress, respect as a woman, with a sultry sexiness to her and then Priyanka Chopra came in and nailed it. We had a secret weapon in Priyanka Chopra. She has amazing ambition, is incredibly smart and very self aware so we were really lucky to have her. Who she is in Baywatch is who she is in real life, minus the evilness.”
Never before has Hollywood been so welcoming of an Indian superstar , as Forbes US went on to say how they wished more Hollywood films had female villains, having watched Priyanka in the movie.
Forbes Magazine said:
“Chopra has fun as the baddie. The showdown is the best moment in the film, one which cleverly shows its female villain no gender-based charity. I wish more movies had female super villains”.
“Priyanka Chopra is the highlight as the nefarious entrepreneur Victoria Leeds. Chopra’s engaging, interesting and speaks with a distinctive cadence”.
Matt Goldberg from Collider couldn’t have said it better, describing PC as a real standout in ‘Baywatch’:
“Priyanka Chopra owns the film every second she’s on screen. Chopra is commanding, and when she gets called an aspiring Bond villain, it made me want her to be the villain in the next Bond movie.”
