How sick is this? Nirbhaya rapist blames her for the rape!

It’s been 2 and a half years since the horrific Delhi rape case involving “Nirbhaya,” as she was named by media as it means fearless (see here for my article on her passing).  Nirbhaya was only 23 years old and was returning home after watching a movie with a male friend.  The night ended in horror as her friend was beaten up and she was gruesomely raped and assaulted with an iron rod, ultimately dying due to the severe blood loss and internal injuries.  The death was tragic, but brought rape to the forefront.  Rape is no longer an issue that can be ignored in India.  After the Delhi rape case, there was a huge outrage in India – with protests taking place, people holding vigils for the young girl, and people demanding the legal system take severe action.  People wanted to, and still want to, see justice.  If you think the case was disgusting then, apparently, there is more!  In a recent interview with the BBC network, one of her rapists, Mukesh Singh, speaks out – and it leaves us just as disgusted as we were when heard about the rape!  This sicko is not apologetic. He is not remorseful. He is not regretful. He doesn’t feel like he did anything wrong. Instead, he is blaming the victim.  Read his statement below.

Here is the statement he released,

A girl is far more responsible for rape than a boy. When being raped, she shouldn’t fight back. She should just be silent and allow the rape. Then they’d have dropped her off after ‘doing her’, and only hit the boy.You can’t clap with one hand – it takes two hands. A decent girl won’t roam around at 9 o’clock at night. A girl is far more responsible for rape than a boy. Boy and girl are not equal. Housework and housekeeping is for girls, not roaming in discos and bars at night doing wrong things, wearing wrong clothes. About 20 per cent of girls are good. The death penalty will make things even more dangerous for girls. Before, they would rape and say, ‘Leave her, she won’t tell anyone.’ Now when they rape, especially the criminal types, they will just kill the girl. Death.

Apparently, the lawyer who has chosen to represent Singh also has some very extreme views.  He was quoted as saying, “If my daughter or sister engaged in pre-marital activities and disgraced herself and allowed herself to lose face and character by doing such things, I would most certainly take this sort of sister or daughter to my farmhouse, and in front of my entire family, I would put petrol on her and set her alight.

The full interview will air on NDTV March 8th, 2015.
