Summer’s officially here, and the dynamic duo of Jai Matt and Dr. Srimix (the duo who earlier rocked hits like “Rangeela Re – Lean On Mix”) are bringing the heat! While their prior tracks have had more of a Bollywood flavor, their latest collaboration, “Pilichina,” combines North and South vibes. It is a unique track that is sure to be on repeat when you hear it. The song encapsulates a lead South Indian flute melody from the Telugu industry (Tollywood). Jai Matt riffs his English lyrics beautifully with Manisha Eerabathini singing some classic Telugu vocals. Manisha, who is a playback singer from the Tollywood industry for many films such as “Nenu Local” and “Chal Mohan Ranga“, added a soulful variation to the track.
Jai Matt and Dr. Srimix are known for their fusion songs. However, Pilichina is a different vibe for them. Speaking about the track, Jai Matt stated,
“For the past 2 years we’ve been doing Bollywood fusion for the most part. Our goal from here is to bring South Indian influences into the north, and vice versa. This is our first song that represents a South Indian/Caribbean core, with some of the Punjabi flavor you get from the Dhol. I think we achieved that.”
2018 is sure to bring many more all-India encompassing tracks for Jai Matt and Dr. Srimix — Those that tie in the South and North Indian influences. Stay tuned!
