Amanda Sodhi Drops New Single, Puppet Life – Find Home In Toxic Environment

Indian-American Singer-Songwriter Amanda Sodhi Drops New Single, Puppet Life – The Music Video Showcases Kolkata Like Never Before!

Indian-American singer-songwriter Amanda Sodhi has just released a brand new single, Puppet Life, under National and Filmfare award-winning sound engineer K.J. Singh’s music label, Asli Music. This catchy pop-rock song captures the feelings of helplessness and despair when things consistently go against plan.

Shot by Friday Night Originals and A432 Productions, Puppet Life’s video beautifully showcases some of Kolkata’s most iconic spots. The song has been produced, arranged and mixed by Suvromalya Mukherjee and mastered by KJ Singh.

Her work has aired on MTV Indies, Channel V and Vh1. AR Rahman had even Tweeted about Behind My Sunglasses!

“Puppet Life was born out of feeling extreme helplessness as an artist trying to find home in a toxic, hostile environment. It is the last song I wrote before bidding Mumbai goodbye,” said Amanda in a public Facebook post.

“I’m not sure what will happen once the song is out – it is easy to get lost in the clutter as an indie artist unwilling to buy fake likes/views. I hope Puppet Life miraculously finds a way to audiences. Irrespective of how things shape up, I’m so glad I did this.”

Amanda is also a filmmaker, model, VO artist and theatre professional. She was born and brought up in Washington, DC and later moved to Los Angeles, Mumbai and eventually Kolkata. She is the founder a startup called Pen Paper Dreams, which promotes creative self-expression and healing through art.

Amanda had translated several of Prasoon Joshi’s lyrics for his anthology Sunshine Lanes. As a screenwriter, she shares a Goldie Award with Rohit Gupta for the independent feature Life! Camera Action…, which toured at over 30 film festivals around the globe. As a writer-director, her short films The Dance of Death and Through Bloodshot Eyes also featured at several film festivals. Currently, she is in post-production for a documentary film about the Indian independent music scene called Attention Please, which she has co-directed with KJ Singh.

As a model, Amanda has worked on projects in Los Angeles, Mumbai and Kolkata, including a TVC for Dabur Vatika Olive Oil and The 102. Theatre-wise, she has worked backstage with Rajit Kapur/Shernaz Patel’s Rage Productions, Vickram Kapadia’s Masque, Mahabanoo Kotwal’s Poor Box Productions and Mad About Drama.
