The IIFA Diaries – “From Red to Green: The Superstars We Want”

This article is brought to you by TwoMangoes .  A cool new online dating site for South Asians…because matrimonial sites just don’t cut it anymore!

The Red Carpet will go green from June 23-25 as the 2011 IIFA Awards bestow their presence in Toronto, Ontario. Why green, you ask? The Intenational Indian Film Academy believe in environmentally friendly practices and have been promoting sustainable practices and eco-friendly lifestyles for the past few years by supporting a number of initiatives catered to reducing our carbon footprints and by turning the red carpet into a noticeable hue of green. Just another reason for us to celebrate!

As we prepare to embrace the awards, we must also prepare to embrace the stars. Here’s a look at who we think will be making an appearance on the green carpet with all their celebrity gold!

Priyanka Chopra – Miss Piggy Chops has been known for her dare devil acts and unique performances, Mangos and Coconuts can surely expect her making a fashion statement on the green carpet with films such as Anjaana Anjaani and Saat Khoon Maaf in her kitty this year.

The Kapoor Clan – This filmi family just continues to grow bigger and bigger and now with Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor ruling the roost, IIFA is the place for the Kapoors to be. With the the Toronto International Film Festival holding a special retrospective exhibition celebrating the life and career of Raj Kapoor at the TIFF Lightbox in downtown Toronto, we know that the Kapoors will be here to celebrate.

Madhuri Dixit – Okay, this one is definitely an unsure guess, but we WANT Madhuri Dixit present at the IIFA Awards. Madhuri rarely does films these days, eventhough she just signed the dotted line to star in a film opposite Sanjay Dutt. Regardless, our hands are held tight and fingers are crossed…the Queen of Bollywood must be present.

Ranvir Singh – This boy went from being an unknown face to being the hottest newcomer to hit B-town since Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. With good looks, talent and a boyish charm, Ranvir has claimed the hearts of many girls and the appreciation of cinegoers. So let’s hope this actor shows up to claim all the glory even if he doesn’t win.

Vidya Balan – If a diamond has many sides, then Vidya is the most rarest in Bollywood. In just a few short years, Vidya has proved that she is probably one of the most versatile actresses ever to hit the Hindi Film screen with an array of diverse performances. How can she miss one of the biggest international events celebrating Bollywood cinema? She must attend.

Shahrukh Khan – He is King Khan to millions and with My Name Is Khan nominated in almost every category why wouldn’t he make an appearance. After all, My Name Is Khan did gather a lot of international success and in any case, any event without the King himself wouldn’t feel complete.
