British-Asian MC Pioneers drop super smash hit, "Kerre Velle"

A hot new single  from British Asian MC pioneers Metz & Trix is set to crank up the heat this summer!

A unique collaboration, “Kerre Velle” combines the hip hop flow of the Manchester-based dynamic duo with the big desi beats of Kenya-based Punjabi entertainer, Gupz Saund. The big song has already received a lot of love from critics, DJ’s and those who have been fortunate enough to hear it on the live circuit despite it not being released yet. “In 2009, we were doing a tour in Nairobi. Then we did a radio interview and Gupz was the host. He asked if he could collaborate on a song with us and we said, ‘Of course!’ We stayed in touch, he sent a song over and we thought it was amazing. The beautiful thing was that we communicated everything, including sending vocals via emails, and the result was this amazing song,” said Metz.

Manchester born Metz & Trix are award-winning artists who have dominated the British Asian music scene for over a decade now. Their style fuses Bhangra, Bollywood and Desi elements with hip hop, R&B, house and other underground UK sounds. Their music is truly unique and that’s why they are considered and respected as pioneering artists of the UK Asian music scene. They have performe alongside some of the top UK and internationally recognized artists, and their dynamic and innovative music style has helped pave the way for many other artists to follow. They are known for some of their classic hits, such as “Aaja Mahi,” “Tappe” and “Bi-Lingual,” just to name a few.

“Kerre Velle” is an epic dance floor anthem that carries on the impressive momentum generated by Metz & Trix in the past decade. They have delivered several major hit songs, such as “Aaja Mahi”, “Tappe” and “Sah Rukh Da”, as well as inspiring a whole generation of British Asian hip hop artists to follow in their giant footsteps. “We have always believed in leading the way and feel we have done that again with this collaboration with Gupz Saund. This song will hopefully draw attention to the incredible talent that exists in Africa and take British Asian music across new frontiers,” said Trix. “Kerre Velle” is taken from the forthcoming Metz & Trix’s EP “Going Worldwide” and will also be featured on Gupz Saund’s new album, “Eclipse”.

The other third of the trio that collaborated for “Kerre Velle” is Gupz Saund. Born in Nairobi, Kenya, this singer, producer, DJ, columnist and all around entertainer has recently been recognized as Kenya’s most-sought after, in-demand DJ and the most-happening artist of 2010 for his show on East FM. Gaining inspiration from his father, also a Punjabi singer, and the late great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, he has developed his musical style from a lifetime of musical influence. He is currently finishing stages of his third and biggest studio album to date, entitled “Eclipse.”

After listening to their outstanding new hit, “Kerre Velle”, I have no doubt that both Metz & Trix’s EP and Saund’s album are bound to be huge successes.  Don’t believe me? Listen to “Kerre Velle” right here and tell UrbanAsian what you think!
