Cricket meets couture. Suryakumar Yadav swapped the pitch for the runway as the showstopper for Ethnix by Raymond’s Wedding Stories at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), held at Taj Palace, New Delhi. The showcase celebrated the evolving style of the modern Indian man, mixing Indian craftsmanship with contemporary occasionwear.

Suryakumar’s Showstopper Look

Suryakumar wore an ensemble inspired by Indian chintz florals, featuring multicoloured Gresham embroidery, a long jacket and matching relaxed-fit trousers. The look paired heritage craftsmanship with a contemporary couture feel, a fitting expression of Ethnix by Raymond’s modern approach to Indian occasionwear.

He said fashion has always been another way for him to express his personality, and that it was exciting to walk for the brand. He added that Wedding Stories brings together the richness of Indian craftsmanship with a contemporary sense of style.

Live Music and Six Creators

The runway had its own soundtrack. Twin Strings performed a specially curated live set blending Bollywood classics with international electronic sounds, Afro house and contemporary pop, with a Raymond tune woven into the performance.

Six leading content creators also walked the runway, adding a creator-led dimension to the showcase:

  • Aayush Yadav
  • Rahul Verma
  • Kunal Tomar
  • Manmeet Singh
  • Giri Sawalkar
  • Isshan Thakur

Inside the Wedding Stories Collection

Wedding Stories covers the full range of contemporary Indian occasionwear: kurtas, bandhgalas, sherwanis and Indo-Western silhouettes, alongside shirts, suits and tuxedos. It draws on Indian traditions of printing, dyeing, embroidery and weaving, and brings in regional influences such as Warli art, Rajasthani miniatures and Jaipuri jharokhas.

Fabrics: cotton, silk and linen blends, Jacquards, brocades, velvet and Jamawar.

Details: floral Jacquards, placement prints and Jaipur-inspired block prints bring pattern, while embroidery and subtle lurex add texture and understated sheen. Layered forms, asymmetric silhouettes and a balance of fitted structure and fluidity give grooms and wedding guests versatile options across ceremonies and celebrations.

What Raymond Said

Vipul Mathur, Chief Business Officer at Ethnix by Raymond, said ethnicwear is evolving beyond traditional occasions into a powerful expression of personal identity for the modern Indian man. With Wedding Stories, he said, the brand combines heritage craftsmanship with contemporary Indo-Western silhouettes to match changing consumer aspirations.

Kalpana Singh, CMO of Raymond Lifestyle Limited, said the partnership with Lakmē Fashion Week showcases the evolution of Indian menswear through modern tailoring, versatile silhouettes and rich heritage crafts. She noted that Suryakumar’s confidence and individuality reflect the spirit of the contemporary Indian man.

The Takeaway

Fashion, music, cricket and creator culture all shared one runway, showing how the modern Indian man now approaches wedding and occasion dressing. Ethnix by Raymond made the case that Indian craft and textile traditions can keep evolving through modern design while staying rooted in culture.
