Designer George Esquivel, the celebrated footwear designer known for his hand burnished and artisanal shoes, introduces his first sneaker collection, Esquivel X Sneakers, with a limited edition design in collaboration with “The Way I See It,” a film from Focus Features, MSNBC Films, Jaywalker Pictures and Ace Content about Obama photographer Pete Souza and the presidency. Inspired by a New York Times No. 1 bestseller, the film is an unprecedented look behind the scenes at two of the most iconic presidents in American history, Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan, as seen through the eyes of renowned photographer Pete Souza.
The Limited Edition Esquivel X Sneaker
Distinguished by one simple, powerful word: VOTE, the limited edition Esquivel X Sneaker supports voter registration and participation in democracy, with a portion of proceeds going to Headcount, the non-partisan organization that helps register voters.

The collaboration came about after designer Esquivel was talking with Jaywalker Pictures, of which actress Laura Dern is one half of the production company, about doing a project together. When Coronavirus prevented a red carpet for the premiere, Esquivel teamed up with them along with Focus Features, MSNBC Films, and Ace Content to celebrate the documentary while also drawing attention to the importance of voter registration. Esquivel X is a platform designed to amplify the effects of collaboration, and a portion of proceeds of each collection is donated to charity. More than fashion, Esquivel X stands for the desire to do more.
