What is CBD Oil and What are Its Benefits

By now you’ve probably heard about cannabidiol, better known as CBD oil. It is estimated that the CBD market is going to be worth more than $2 billion in the next few years, and folks are scrambling to buy CBD products, but why? Hemp is rich in CBD and low in THC; and, in 2018, CBD products which contain less than 0.3 percent THC and are obtained from hemp crops were made legal across the USA. So why do people buy CBD oil?

In a recent study published by the University of Connecticut, scientists explain the benefits of CBD oil for those with chronic pain: “CBD may help relieve pain and other symptoms associated with conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, or Alzheimer’s disease.” The paper also goes on to state that CBD “may be useful in treating depression.” In addition, the paper points out that there is “little evidence currently supporting the use of CBD for disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or chronic pain.” So what do we really know about CBD?

What is CBD Oil

CBD is one of the many cannabinoids found in the hemp plant and is extracted from it to make the CBD oil. Its full name is cannabidiol and similar cannabinoids are CBG, THC, and CBN. THC is the cannabinoid that causes psychoactive effects, so all CBD products that are sold have to contain less than 0.3% in order to be safe to use. But, what is CBN? Cannabinol is another cannabinoid that is actually derived from THC and it is created with the degradation of THC. However, CBN unlike THC does not cause any psychoactive effects.

While we don’t know all of the potential benefits of CBD, one thing that’s not controversial is that it is a powerful pain reliever. In fact, in clinical studies, it has proven effective at relieving pain, especially neuropathic pain. People suffering from cancer, multiple sclerosis, and arthritis have also found great relief from CBD. So CBD might have a place in our natural medicine pantry, as long as we understand the potential risks.

Another popular supplement in the CBD industry is the CBG cannabinoid, or to be more precise all products that contain Cannabigerol or CBG in its compound. This is considered to be a more powerful cannabinoid than CBD and is often used in recent years.

Benefits of CBD Products

In clinical studies with people suffering from schizophrenia and other psychosomatic illnesses, it has been found that using CBD significantly reduces some of the symptoms. In one study, researchers suggest that the reduction in anxiety levels was the most pronounced effect. Other results in the study included an improvement in mood, an increase in moodiness, and an increase in feelings of euphoria. Although these results are promising, it is not clear whether these effects are due to CBD oil or to the medications used to treat these illnesses. Because of the lack of human studies and conflicting opinions regarding this issue, it is not known whether CBD has a beneficial effect on the human mind and body.

In addition to the benefits listed above, there are other benefits of CBD oil that should be considered. One of the benefits of CBD oil is that it is an effective pain reliever. People experiencing pain have been using CBD for hundreds of years to help reduce and eliminate their symptoms. Many of the pain relief symptoms caused by arthritis, joint pain, and back problems can be relieved by using CBD oil. Because CBD is an all-natural ingredient, it is not believed to cause any side effects.

Conclusion

The benefits of CBD seem to be very real and the market for it has steadily grown in recent years. With so much more attention being paid to alternative and natural medicines, it is no wonder that people use and oil for a variety of medical conditions. For those who are interested in trying it, CBD is available in dietary supplements and in capsule form, as well as in the form of CBD vape products. It is not known whether CBD is safe when used in combination with other pharmaceuticals, so it is advised to consult with a doctor before taking any CBD product if the person is under a certain therapy. For people who have medical conditions, however, CBD may be an ideal supplement to consider.
