Surrey, BC – On April 10th, 2026, as Moving Forward Family Services hosted its Moving Forward Together Gala, the venue was transformed into a hub of inspiration and philanthropy. The event drew an influential crowd of local politicians, business executives, media personalities, and community advocates, all gathered to support essential family resources in the region.

The evening was defined by a sophisticated blend of world-class entertainment and profound storytelling. Guests were greeted upon arrival by the whimsical presence of stilt walkers setting a tone of elegance and wonder. The event also highlighted the organization’s commitment to education and opportunity through its first ever Memorial Bursary; these bursaries were sponsored by seven different families to honour the memories of wonderful people who are no longer with us. During the evening, eight deserving recipients were awarded $750 bursaries to support their academic journeys and future goals. The recognition underscored the gala’s broader mission of investing in individuals and families through meaningful, long-term support.

The heart of the program featured a moving keynote address by Joe Roberts, known internationally as the “Skidrow CEO.” Roberts shared his powerful journey from homelessness to executive success, emphasizing the “possibility mindset” and the critical importance of community support systems, a message that resonated deeply with the mission of Moving Forward Family Services.
