Vishal Jethwa reacted with grace and optimism as Homebound didn’t make it to the final list of Oscars 2026. The actor shared that while the team was hopeful, they always knew the journey itself was the real reward. He expressed immense pride in the film and gratitude for the love and recognition it received globally.
In the statement he shared, “While we didn’t make it to the final nominations, being shortlisted among the final 15 films from 86 entries itself has been deeply humbling for me. I come from a very modest, local space, where dreams often feel distant, so to see Homebound travel this far and represent India on a global platform already feels extraordinary. This journey has strengthened my belief in honest storytelling and in cinema that comes from the heart.”
He added, “Every step of this process has been a reminder of how far belief, perseverance, and sincerity can take you. I’m deeply grateful to Neeraj Ghaywan for his vision, to Karan Johar for believing in this film, and to my co-actors Ishaan and Janhvi for being such inspiring collaborators. I carry this experience with pride and gratitude, and look forward to what lies ahead.”
Vishal added that being part of a story like Homebound was enriching and meaningful, and awards, though special, don’t define the impact of honest storytelling. He believes the film’s message has reached hearts, which matters most, and remains excited for what lies ahead.
