K-pop, short for Korean pop music, has taken the world by storm over the past decade, captivating audiences with its catchy tunes, impressive choreography, and visually stunning performances. One group that has been making waves in the K-pop scene is VAV, short for “Very Awesome Voice.” With their unique blend of talents and captivating charm, VAV has been steadily gaining popularity and recognition both in South Korea and on the international stage.
VAV has been active in the K-pop industry for several years now. How do you feel your music and style have evolved since your debut, and what changes or growth have you experienced as a group?
LOU: I believe we’ve been continuously making good music. If there’s a difference, it is that the members are participating in the production process more and more. I think the quality of the music that we write is improving as well.
You all are making a comeback now – how does it feel to finally get back to doing what you all love as a group?
AYNO: I’m over the moon! The fact that we are standing in front of our fans again as VAV to perform is very precious.
VAV has a diverse international lineup with members from different countries. How has this cultural diversity influenced your music and performances, and what unique perspectives does each member bring to the group?
ST.VAN: Being able to communicate between different cultures seems to have a good influence on our music and performance. And since the musical styles the members like are slightly different, this allows us to try a variety of genres.
JACOB: I think music allows us to exchange cultures regardless of nationality.
“Give Me More” and “Poison” are some of your most popular songs. Now you have your 7th mini album out – how did you all come up with the name Subconscious? “Give Me More”와 “Poison”으로 많은 인기를 얻
ST.VAN: Everyone has his/her own potential. We wanted to send out a message to people, to find their own potential to design their life as they want, and that’s why we named our album, “Subconscious.” We also wanted to show off our own potential in this album as well.

VAV is known for its powerful and energetic performances. How do you prepare physically and mentally for your stage performances, and what do you hope to convey to your fans through your performances?
AYNO: Physically, we try to sneak in nap times in between because we don’t get a lot of sleep during a promotion, and we can’t dance properly without some sleep. As a mental preparation, we always put our hands together and chant “jiayou!” (Chinese term for “Cheer up! Let’s go!”) before going on stage to perform. We hope to share our positive energy with everyone watching us perform.
Collaborations are always exciting for fans. Are there any artists or groups you would love to collaborate with in the future, and why?
ZIU: Personally, I want to try a dance ballad with Rain.
VAV has a dedicated fanbase. Can you share a memorable or heartwarming fan experience that has left a lasting impression on you as a group?
ACE: Being on stage is when it’s most fun and memorable. Singing and dancing are the essence of our group, so it feels best when we are communicating with our fans via our performance. We would love to continue doing that.
The K-pop industry is highly competitive. How do you navigate the challenges and maintain a strong bond as a group, both professionally and personally?
ACE: Right after our debut I was very worried and impatient at times, but now I work with a mindset to put my best in the things I can and enjoy the process. I think a day will come for those who do not give up to enjoy the sweet fruit of their perseverance. I think positive thinking is one of the reasons for our good teamwork.

VAV has had successful tours and concerts around the world. Can you describe the differences and similarities in fan culture and reception across different countries?
LOU: In Asia, Japanese fans like to focus on the performance rather than give out loud reactions. They always maintain their own tension. Many European fans join hands to wave and enjoy the song. Our Latin American fans like to show their passion as if they are on stage together with us. What they all have in common is that they like our songs and love to inaeract with us?
Are there any specific goals or dreams you have as a group that you are working towards or hope to achieve in the future?
JACOB: I really want to win first place on a music show, but the goal that I really want to achieve is performing together with the members for a long long time.
As VAV continues to grow in popularity and gain recognition, their future in the K-pop industry looks bright. With each comeback, they seem to raise the bar, both musically and visually, demonstrating their determination to continuously improve and evolve as artists.
Their willingness to engage with the international K-pop community also indicates that VAV is poised to explore further opportunities beyond their home country’s borders. As the K-pop wave continues to spread globally, VAV’s unique charm and talent will undoubtedly attract more fans from diverse backgrounds, solidifying their position as a rising star in the world of K-pop.
Finally, what message would you like to convey to your fans, the VAMPZ, who have supported you throughout your journey as VAV?
ZIU: Thank you so much for waiting for our comeback. We will continue to show you great songs and performances, so give us a lot of love and support!
