Faruk Kabir to Siddharth Anand, five directors who are also talented scriptwriters

Bollywood has had some gem of directors since time who has changed the course of cinema with their powerful art.


But the film industry also got some skilled artists who are not just good directors but great writers as well. They are the virtuosos who also possess the art to pen down their scrips.


Here are B-Town’s five talented directors who are also talented scriptwriters and gave us some artistic tales to cherish:

Faruk Kabir


The Khuda Haafiz fame director is one trending person in the film industry. We know him for his impeccable direction for multiple films. The director turned into a writer for his Crime Drama ‘Allah Ke Banday’ (2010) starring Sharman Joshi and Naseeruddin Shah and received praise for his fervent storyline.


With Khuda Haafiz and Khuda Haafiz: Chapter 2 – Agni Pariksha the director once again received applause for his aptly played dual roles. His action-backed direction and grippingly written backdrop bagged immense appreciation from the fans as well as critics.


Aneez Bazmee


We know the skilled director Aneez Bazmee who gave us some eternal entertainers like Hulchul (1995), No Entry (2005), Singh is Kinng (2008), and the recent Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022). His films have always been some diverse entertainers and make us want to keep all of them on repeat.


The director is also a talented writer and we remember cherishing his writing in films like Swarg (1990), Shola Aur Shabnam (1992), Raja Babu (1994), Karz (2002), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and others. With absolute talent, he gives us the best from his diverse slate.

Sudhir Mishra


The legendary National Film Award-winning director Sudhir Mishra gave us some unusually amazing pieces like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron (1983), Khamosh (1985), Dharavi (1991), Calcutta Mail (2003) and others.


His work as a director and writer in the above pieces gained a lot of praise that proved he is a director who possesses powerful writing skills!


Neeraj Pandey


Can we forget the inspiringly written Biopic on the only M.S Dhoni? Well, Neeraj Pandey has given us countless extraordinary scripts with the Award-winning ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Special 26’, ‘Baby’, and to-be-released action thriller ‘Vikram Vedha’.


The director aces in the investigative and action thriller genre and his writing give his audience a heart-pound every time he picks up the pen.


Siddharth Anand


Director Siddharth Anand gave us some amazing romantic dramas like Hum Tum, Salaam Namaste, Bachna Ae Haseeno and others.

He spelt magic with his writing in other of his entertainers like Bang Bang, Ta Ra Rum Pum, War and others. With some upcoming releases lined up, the director is all set to let his writing become the hero!

As talents keep showing up, artists such as these continue to woo their audience by playing multiple roles in the cinemas.
