When asked what inspired this song and it’s lyrics, Ansar shared;
“The song is a chill boom-bap inspired song that starts with your typical enjoyable braggadocio rap with a smooth flow. The first verse focuses on the self which is reflected by the first chorus (“WE” don’t change) but the second verse focuses outward on what’s around us with some cheeky political commentary. This is reflected by the following hook (“THEY” don’t change). “
The lyrics certainly have many in a chokehold with the iconic use of cheeky commentary and continuous comparisons making us think twice. What a lyrical genius! Ansar has always had a subliminal way of spreading a message across in his music through his lyrics. He finds ways to bring the lyrics to life with the epic beats!
‘Like That’ showcases an unstoppable force of comparison between the change of individual to collective ideologies. Enabling others to make the comparisons from their own experiences. It certainly has a way of bringing people together with their own lyrical understanding.
The beat is perfect for a chilled weekend vibe. A weekend of grasping our youth with ‘the dark consuming much more than the light has’. What a play on words!
