Shilpa Rao opens up about her latest track Raavan, about her experience working with Amit Trivedi, about trance tracks and more.
– You have created such a different track this time for us. It’s not romantic not a party number but a trance. How did the idea of this track come out?
This time not done a Romantic track, it’s a trance track and it’s always fun to do something new so yea. This is one of those things and I was recording Shaabaasiyan for Amit, Balki Sir and Amitabh. I was in the studio and Amit said you know there is this track you see what you feel like and sing something. The words were there but they were more intense. It just came with a flow and my first spontaneous reaction to the song and hardly took 2 takes and the song was over. That’s basically how Raavan happened and it’s a new avatar for me and so happy that people are enjoying it.
-Trance is still evolving in India not many create such music. How do you see it’s acceptance?
Trance music has a lot of listenership in India, a lot of Youth is quite into it. It’s just that it’s a beautiful mix of our Indian sanskrit bold fusion into Trance. That’s the cherry and I am so happy that people are enjoying it.
-How is your experience working with Amit Trivedi. Is there any interesting incident that happened while making the song that you can share with us?
I was in the studio was recording for ‘Mission Mangal’. I was recording for ‘Shaabaashiyaan’ and there was this track and Amit just spell it to me. Can you just put down some idea whatever comes to you and in one take I just sang that part for the song ‘Raavan’. It just worked and thats how it happened. It wasn’t something that took a lot of time. It was very spontaneous reaction of mine to the song.
-Name any three singers that you wish to work in future?
There are many Singers I would love to work with them, there are many artists and lot of music producers and composers that are there in india that I love to work with. There are some people who are already established. I would love to work with them again and again. There is Pritam, Vishal – Shekhar, Mithoon and in new alot there is Shashwat, Parampara and many new people. Also I first listen to the song and if I love the song then I do it that’s the only criteria for recording the songs. I am always in the lookout for the composer people who are starting off. I would love to work with fresh minds. Future projects yes, there are more couple of singles and songs that should be out, some tracks with Pritam so yea I am really hoping for a great festive season.
-After this what are you planning next?
Future projects yes, there are more couple of singles and songs that should be out, some tracks with Pritam so yea I am really hoping for a great festive season.
-A message you will like to give your fans on staying safe and positive during these trying times.
