When planning what to wear to any event, like Poker night, or another party, you need to consider the cultural norms of the people in that region. The Indian culture is different, but generally accepts most changes in dressing. In Bollywood, in particular, the outfits are many, ranging from Saree or flamboyant Lehenga set to Choli top.
In this post, we are going to discuss what to wear in a Bollywood party with little effort and still look amazing.
Saree
Saree is the most common outfit for most Indian women. You can wear a five or six-meter Saree in a number of ways, and if you wrap it incorrectly, it could be a disaster. You may want to watch YouTube videos on how to wear a Saree and practice a couple of times at home before the party. Most Indian women wear a petticoat under the Saree, though you can also go with a plain short skirt.

Lehenga Choli
Lehenga Choli is a 3-piece costume that includes a top, skirt/ghagra, and veil/orni. If you have watched Bollywood movies, then you have probably seen an actress wearing Lehenga at either a family gathering or wedding.
Generally, Lehenga is not a traditional outfit for Indians, except in northern India. Its popularity was brought about by Bollywood, and many Indian ladies today are wearing them to weddings and parties. Beads can be added to Lehenga Choli, or it could just be plain silk fabric. It depends on how much you are willing to spend and your body size.

Kurta-Churidar
This is basically a long shirt and baggy or tight pants with a veil or dupatta. Most Indian women wear this dress. You can find Kurta-Churidar in most Indian stores, or you could buy from an online retailer.

Skirt and Choli
If you are looking for a simple way to dress at a Bollywood party, then you should definitely go for this one. A yard skirt or ruffle skirt and a choli top, a veil to wrap around your body, or cover your head and shoulders should be good enough. Other variations of Bollywood attires include Harem pants and Choli, or Churidar, Indian Kurta Payjama, etc.

The trousers flare
If you are looking for that comfortable fashion, then flare bottoms are your best choice. You can go with a flared trouser suit with floral prints or bold geometrical. Tie the dupatta on your head to give you that retro feel.
You can also add white pearl accessories and some red lipstick to give you that classic look. Also, consider funky color combinations and heels to bring out a vintage look. You can also back-comp and puff your hair for that rocking party look.
Layers and frill
This outfit marks the modernization of Indian silhouettes. Choose a layered indo-western lehenga suit or that frilly evening gown for the ultimate retro-themed Bollywood party. You can also style the outfit with a piece of vintage jewelry and floral hair accessories to incorporate that regalia touch to your look. You can also go for a dolled-up look with lace gloves and curly hair.
For that classic look, make sure you include flowers in your hair. You can get some ideas from Anushka Sharma’s bold flower in her Tuscan wedding.
You may also want to watch Bollywood movies to get ideas of what to wear to the party you will be attending in Bollywood.
Some of the accessories you could wear with your Bollywood attire include big beaded earrings and necklaces with tikli. You have probably seen an Indian woman wearing contrasting colors, so you may also want to try out different colors and designs to see how they look on you.
When it comes to men, there are many choices. These include the four-piece executive Sherwani and plain kurta/shirt with trousers or jeans. But of course, it depends on your individual preference. However, we recommend you go for a comfy, but standard outfits. This could be the Indian Kurta or shirt with embroidery, jeans or trousers, and a unisex scarf.
When you are going to an Indian party, you have to dress in a way that will enable you to exude confidence. You can get some clues from famous models in India and movies.
