Rachel Doyle takes GlamourGals to the next level!

It’s the Holidays and we all know what that means! We give back to our community, spend time with the people we care about and also enjoy each others company. Yet, many are not so fortunate to get the care they need. GlamourGals changes that and brings happiness to the home!

We had a chance to chat with Rachel Doyle, the face behind GlamourGals based in NYC. The mission is to inspire and organize teen volunteers to provide ongoing companionship and complimentary beauty makeovers to women living in senior homes. It sounds like a ton of fun if you ask us!

Check out our interview with Founder Rachel Doyle as she tells us about her journey and where GlamourGals is headed.

How did you start GG and what made you start it?

I founded GlamourGals while I was in high school.  I wanted to combine my passion for helping others and love of beauty products!  GlamourGals (GG) was founded in honor of my grandmother who had passed away.

How were you able to grow the company while you were in high school?

While in high school GG was really a project that I was recruiting others to join in.  We did receive a great amount of press (Oprah, NY Times, Glamour and more all covered our work before I graduated!)  It was not until my time at Cornell University that I hooked into the entrepreneurial community and found great resources in the professors, alumni network and writing business plans to help further it.

You run an organization full of strong women helping others which is amazing! Who do you look up to as a role model and someone that inspires you?

My mom! We are best friends and she is someone who is there to support me.

When Rachel Doyle (is not) working -how do you spend your free time?

I love to travel so I probably spend a decent amount of time “dreaming” of where I would love to travel to but in reality, I would say hanging close with my family (two small children – Estee and Lucas and husband – check them out on @ggfounder) and the gym.

Where do you see GG in the next 5 years?

Over the next five years I definitely want to leverage the incredible network that we have fostered (#ggmovement) over the last two decades and engage them in our critical work in local communities serving women of all ages.

You have chapters all over the United States, have you thought of going globally?

Absolutely, we have one in Canada and in the past, they have popped up around the world but for right now we have the demand in the US and focusing our limited resources there is more efficient.

What is next for GG in 2020?

In 2020 – GG celebrates its 20th year of service.  We were just awarded a grant from the Winifred Johnson Clive Foundation to undertake our first ever Intergenerational Alumni Service Project next year.  To learn more – definitely sign up for our monthly e-news at glamourgals.org.

If one wanted to participate – what is the process of joining?

Definitely check out our website https://www.glamourgals.org/get-involved

or our social handles @glamourgals @ggfounder – there are so many ways to get involved for people of all ages!

Be sure to check it out and volunteer at the next event!
