Antar Agni By Ujjawal Dubey Thought-Provoking Collection ‘Into The Light’

A label known for their interesting play with textiles – Antar Agni by Ujjawal Dubey brings to us yet another thought-provoking collection – ‘Into The Light.’

“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, where knowledge is free.
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls.
Where words come out from the depth of truth, where tireless striving stretches its arms toward perfection”

– Rabindranath Tagore

This summer Ujjawal Dubey takes us on a journey into ourselves. Deep dive into the tranquillity of self-acceptance, a meditative space free of clattering judgments. Immerse yourself in serene rivers and a calm desert breeze, as the artist navigates through human emotions to a canvas of light.

Born out of a collective consciousness of simplicity, Antar-Agni’s SS’19 collection is a celebration of the soul of its people and their courage. Every garment is reflective of their simplicity, acceptance and individual style, making each drape an expression of freedom; Freedom from the constraints of gender, impatience, fear, inhibitions and other narrow boxes we emerge out of to be our true selves. Design here is an ode to individual strength of personality, encouraging interchangeability. Twin with your partner, borrow from them, exchange pieces from your wardrobe— just as you would life’s learning.

Elevating traditional craftsmanship with soft layers and signature structures that echo the inner psyche, Antar- Agni presents its SS’19 collection made up of jackets, kurtas and layered trousers. In natural fabrics that reflect the colours of rivers, thickets, deserts and summer skies, Antar-Agni celebrates the balance of quiet- in nature and ourselves, journeying against the narrow confines of gender.

Colour Story: River Blue, Pine, Ivory, Pebble Grey

Silhouettes: Soft layers with clean structure. Multi-layered kurtas/dresses paired with breezy summer jackets

Fabric: handwoven cotton, cotton-silk; linen blend

Antar-Agni is a perspective, one that focuses on two extremes, to break away and yet embrace the mundane. This perspective is based on a restless curiosity to explore human nature through aesthetics and clothing. We believe that fabric has its own character waiting to be explored. The label merely helps the fabric speak its language, adding nuanced details, smart cuts and relaxed silhouettes -as raw and natural as it gets.

Ujjawal Dubey, a design graduate from NIFT , Kolkata, with a specialization in Textile Design. He debuted his first collection at Lakme Fashion Week in March 2014.
