About Amish Patel

Amish Patel’s life began as a classic fish out of two waters tale. From a young age he gained perspectives on both Indian and Canadian cultures and learned to deal with discrimination and xenophobia through humour. Amish loved comedy from day one but he still obtained an Aerospace Engineering degree.

After literally becoming a rocket scientist, Amish made up for lost time in comedy by writing and producing his own sketch comedy show called Fade to Brown. He produced sold out shows with crowds of over 700 people, gained media attention from NOW Magazine to the CBC, and acquired the funding to executive produce a sketch comedy show for Rogers Television. After Fade to Brown, Amish focused his attention on stand-up comedy and his online presence. Building a loyal online following and racking up hundreds of thousands of views on his comedy videos and becoming the host of Second City’s Diversity night. Not bad for a guy who used to work on jet engines!

Amish also focuses his time on acting. He recently booked a leading role on a kids’ comedy with the Emmy-Award winning Sinking Ship, which will premiere this year on TVO, Amazon and Nickelodeon. He has also appeared on Saving Hope, Man Seeking Woman, and Odd Squad. As a stand-up he recently opened for Saturday Night Live alumni Tim Meadows, and Iliza Schlesinger to a packed house at the Danforth Music Hall. His original sketch comedy show Melting Pot was picked, from hundreds of submissions, by Kevin Hart at the Just for Laughs festival. Melting Pot was green-lit on the spot and is currently being developing for Kevin Hart’s LOL Network. And, Amish knows how airplanes work. Did we cover that? Great!

About Paul Thompson

Paul Thompson is one of the fastest rising performers in Canada at the moment. He has the ability to cycle with ease between solid rehearsed material, and impromptu, on the spot performing. Paul picked up performing from a very young age, as he worked with such comedy acts as Brian Posehn, Joe Rogan, Luenell, Kenny vs. Spenny, to further enhance his craft. He has toured all of Canada as well as throughout the UK, with crowds continuing to spread word on his talent. He successfully reached a #1 comedy album on iTunes and has headlined Kenny Robinson’s famous Nubian Show. Paul recently made his first appearance at Just For Laughs, taping a set for the famous comedian, Kevin Hart. Amongst stand-up comedy, Paul also is an active actor, best known as the voice of Wishbone for 3 seasons.

About Los Poetas

Led by park bench philosophers Louwop, Che Uno and Afantú, Vancouver-based producer Vago, supported by DJ Grouch and backed by master musician Matias Recharte (Kuné Band), Los Poetas are drawn together by a shared immigrant experience and driven by a passion for Hip Hop. Like bards throughout history who have inspired this project, Los Poetas lyrically capture life’s beauty, intensity, anguish, and hope, from the far-flung street corners of their birth countries to the land where they found their voices. Theirs is both, a personal and universal journey that resonates no matter your language, location or lineage.

About HANHAN

Haniely Pableo aka HANHAN is a young Filipino-Canadian female poet / emcee who raps in Filipino languages (Tagalog and Cebuano) addressing Filipino diasporic social issues

through her lyricism inspired by her personal experiences as a young Filipino immigrant woman of colour ranging from immigrant issues, social activism and cultural pride. Her music features elements and sounds of Filipino traditional instruments (kulintang, agong, bamboos and kubing) with catchy hip hop contemporary beats. Her performances feature elements of Filipino folk dance and movement with Filipino and diasporic visual elements.
