Independence Day Special: These Films On Indian Freedom Struggle Will Give You All Patriotic Feels

Bollywood has given us innumerable movies based on India’s struggle, hardships, and sacrifices for its Independence. Watching these movies, again and again, make us feel proud of our nation, and gives us all patriotic feels, no matter what. Especially on the days like 15th August and 26th January, every channel gives us so many reasons to sit and binge watch amazing movies, which tells a tale of India, and its heroes.

As we celebrate the 70th year of Independence from the British Raj, take a look at the best patriotic movies, here:

 

Lagaan:

Lagaan is Aamir Khan’s award winning film where a handful of villagers learn the game, cricket and face Britishers on the field with the promise of getting rid of high taxes (Lagaan) if they won the match.

 

Border:

Border is one of the blockbuster movies about war. The movie is based on real life events occurred in a war that was fought in Rajasthan during the India-Pakistan war of 1971.

 

Mother India:

This classic movie released in 1957 starred Nargis as ‘Radha’ who portrayed the struggle of an Indian woman. Radha is a poor woman who struggles to raise her children without her husband due to a cunning zamindar.

 

Rang De Basanti:

Aamir Khan plays a pivotal role of rebellious youth of pre independence time. Apart from the fight for an independent nation, it also showcased the friendship amongst the youngsters, and how the take the nation ablaze with their thoughts of provocation.

 

Swades:

Apart from Shah Rukh Khan’s amazing acting, the film gave us oh-so-patriotic songs to die for! Every scene just made it so apt, one cannot miss it if it’s on the television.
