Dating Motivation: How to Move Forward and Stop Looking Back at Your Mistakes

Heartbreak is not something we humans get over easily. We all need some time to heal after a breakup, but it doesn’t matter how much it hurts, you need to find a way to move on with your life. You can’t spend your youth hiding inside your house, watching those vampire love movies and TV shows just so you can run away from sadness. Therefore, in order to help anyone out there who is going through a rough patch, we decided to share some tips on how to move forward and stop looking back at your mistakes.

  1. Let Yourself Be Sad

One of the greatest comedians of our time, Louis CK, once said: “You need to stand in the way of sadness and let it hit you like a truck. You’re lucky to live sad moments”. He was totally right. We need to experience the sadness in order to be happy again. Running away from your feelings won’t help you move on, quite the contrary actually. You’ll stay trapped in the past as long as you don’t find a way to confront those sad emotions.

  1. Make Sure To Learn From Your Mistakes

Looking back at your mistakes isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s how we humans learn and improve ourselves. However, looking back in despair won’t get you anywhere. Self-loathing and regret are two extremely dangerous poisons that will crush your spirit. So, in order to feel better, you need to look back, see the whole thing under a different light and try to find a silver lining. This is the only way you’ll be able to move on and grow as a person.

  1. Do Not Hold Grudges

Holding grudges is definitely one of the worst things you can do after a breakup. At first it may feel good to be angry, but anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering. Every Jedi knight knows that. Joking aside, you need to let the bad things from your past go. Learn how to forgive others and most importantly, learn how to forgive yourself. When you’re able to do that, you’ll feel free and ready to move on with your life.
