So you think along with Deepika Padukone, ‘Raees’ actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub is also going to the Cannes?
No, no. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub isn’t as such making a fashionable appearance at the Cannes, but his short film has been selected for the Cannes Film Festival.
The multi-talented lyricist, singer, writer and actor Swanand Kirkire, who was last seen as Alia Bhatt’s father in Badrinath Ki Dulhania has added another feather to his cap. The artiste has made a short film titled ‘Toyhouse’ which he produced himself.
‘Toyhouse’ is a short drama focusing on identity and migration.
Directed by filmmaker Akram Hassan, who has also worked under Aamir Khan Productions earlier as assistant director, the film has Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as the protagonist. The film is an attempt to emphasize on the unsettling reality that we are all living in a toy-house, and are being played with like toys by a few powerful entities. Besides producing and acting in the film, Swanand also wrote a beautiful poem which is an integral part of this short film.
Now we hear that ‘Toyhouse’ has been accepted in Festival de Cannes 2017 and will be presented at the Short Film Corner at Cannes this May. Besides that, Swanand is also in the midst of completing the screenplay for his debut directorial venture. This will be the first major production of Swanand Kirkire Productions.
