Zayn Ibad Khan featuring Aashiqana has been garnering good response and is on the top shows list in India right now on Disney+ Hotstar. The actor plays the leading role of ACP Yash Vardhan Chauhan in the fiction, which is bankrolled by Gul Khan.
Happy with all the success and love, Zayn says,
“It’s not easy to compete with the big shot list. So, when you talk about the web shows and OTT platforms, we have a huge number of big budgets and big stars and creators in the competition list and it feels good that still we have retained the first position on Hotstar. It’s an overwhelming feeling for all of us as everyone is working so hard. Daily episodes and 12 episodes at once, both of these things are like a different world altogether because we have to shoot one episode on a daily basis and we still have to keep that thrill alive and make all those action sequences exciting. A huge shout-out to the members behind the screen because it wouldn’t have been possible without them. Our director is just magical. Atif sir and Gul ma’am are amazing. It’s a blessing to work with them,” he says.
Zayn sees this huge success of Aashiqana as his first step towards his web and film related dreams.
“I believe dreams should not be told they are meant to live. Dreams and goals ko pura kar ke dikhaya jata hai. I feel overwhelmed and blessed for the response and feels like just a start for me,” he adds.
It is a very big break for the actor in terms of OTT and he wants to make the most of it.
“The character and the show is a breakthrough for me. The whole world is watching. Hotstar is a huge platform and we have already reached the masses. Everyone and every director is watching me and I have received great responses from the Bollywood directors and producers as well. I have read the reviews and I will make sure to give my everything to this show, and my next show because I want to reach as far as I can go. I am ready to work hard and will make sure to do justice to my character, this show and myself as an actor,” he shares.
OTT has become quite big in the last two years. The boom, according to many, is here to say and more and more people are getting hooked to different streaming platforms.
Agreeing, Zayn says,
“Yes it has become quite big. Today every household has a smartphone or a smart TV and people are switching to OTT. TV shows will be the main part of our industry and of our households but people will eventually shift to OTT. Aashiqana is the first ever show made only for OTT that has a touch and feel of a TV show. It is a web serial. We have to shoot plenty of chunks in a single take and keep the intrigue alive. I believe more people will come to OTT and I am happy to be a part of one of the firsts who are bringing about the change.”
