Producer Rajan Shahi, who has been known for his family shows such as ‘Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai’, ‘Amrit Manthan’ and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, is now producing a web series called ‘Love Sex and Viagra’. Talking about the difference in subject, he says,
“My shows from the last 12 years have been based of family plots. We have produced family entertainment shows for family audience. So few people on my team came up with the thought that we should create things for the web, too, that is not restricted to a family audience.”
The producer has come up with a new banner for web content.
“I did not want everything to come under Director’s Kut Productions. So we came up with the idea of First Kut Productions and also thought of the logo,” he adds.
The title of the series is bold and Shahi says that this content works well.
“We will not only produce shows which are to my liking. We need to see what will work. ‘Love Sex and Viagra’ is bold and presently it’s under a different banner. FKP is a platform that gives a space for new ideas and has a unique vision. ‘Love Sex and Viagra’ is a bold project made by people, who wanted to make it from a long time. We also have another project, which has been written by Bhawna Vyas, who our writer of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’. It has a different take on marriages in India. The show called ‘Guddu weds Guddan’ is a unique take on marriages in India. I wanted to come up with a platform where different people have ideas and different takes on different subjects,” he says.
Talking about people’s reactions to ‘Love Sex and Viagra’, Shahi says that many people are shocked that he has produced such a show.
“It has been a shocker to the majority of the audience because they have always seen my shows, which are meant for family audience. But I have got very good reviews and people have liked the promo. They found it funny and are really looking forward to watching the whole series. People are shocked and surprised that I have come up with bold content. All I want to say is that there has been no conscious effort to break my image,” he says.
