We had a chance to speak with her about the work she has done as a stylist and content creator in a digital world!

Tell us a bit about your journey as a stylist and what is a personal shopper for many who don’t know?

I’ve always been interested in fashion. Growing up in India I was very involved in making my outfits. I remember sitting with the artisans and picking the beads, threads, designs for my outfits. I loved the creative process of making an outfit. Over the years, I helped family members putting outfits together and everyone said I was so good with what I do. That’s when I decided to do it professionally and offered my services as a personal shopper and stylist. As a personal shopper, I catered towards the needs of people who had no time to shop for themselves or had trouble putting pieces together. I styled everyone from women, men to dressing girls for their prom. Fast forward to now as a content creator, I use my styling skills to put my looks together and have an audience who appreciate the creativity that goes into each look.

How do you find your inspiration when putting an outfit together?

The ideas all come from within. As a content creator I try to think of unique ways to style pieces. I don’t go by mood boards and go with my gut when creating a look. I’m lucky to have an audience who appreciates my style and creativity and thankful for the brands who see my vision.

Budget is so important when it comes to shopping and styling. How do you budget yourself and what tips can you give women and even men when it comes to budgeting when shopping?

In today’s time, one doesn’t need to spend a lot to look good. $150 is a good budget to find a whole outfit that looks fashionable and trendy. Brands Like Zara, H &M carry pieces that are great alternatives to high end designer brands. The idea is to invest in key pieces that can be reused and restyled multiple ways. I remember as a stylist I once put a whole outfit together for a client whose budget was a $100. It’s all about smart shopping. Having said that, it’s ok to invest in designer pieces sometimes, especially if they can be reused on multiple occasions.

As a South Asian, so many styles are in. What are your favorite South Asian brands or even mainstream brands?

Yes, a lot of styles are in. It’s all about getting creative with the pieces you own. I love restyling and reusing pieces to create different looks. I love to fuse pieces to create unique looks and Indian fusion is something I have a lot of fun creating.  Gosh there are so many I love. South Asian fashion is ruling the world. Some of my favorites are House of Masaba, Rahul Mishra, Manish Malhotra, Deepa Gurnani & Sabyasachi to name a few!

If not styling, what other hobbies do you have?

I love to cook. It’s like therapy for me. I love photography as well.

Cannes, Met Gala are always trending on social media along with many other red-carpet events. Do you ever find inspiration from these events?

I’m definitely inspired by events like Met Gala and Cannes. The true inspiration comes from the phenomenal work of designers and the hard work of stylists in bringing the magic to the red carpet. I share all my creative ideas with my content creation predominantly on Instagram and sometimes on TikTok – @bragyourstyle.  I would love to end with a quote that’s very personal to me –

“Fashion is like music, we all have to make our own tune.” -Karl Lagerfeld
