Vandit Bhatt says,
I love films. They have been instrumental in my development as a man and in turn, as an artist. Consistently, films have been the avenue for my exposure to new ideas, history, knowledge, emotions, theater, literature, and all the complexities of human existence. They gave refuge and voice to feelings within me I couldn’t understand or articulate. They gave me the power to dream, dream big and believe in things bigger than I. They taught me the power of telling stories.
For a kid growing up in a working middle-class family in India, the idea of being an actor usually lives in the realm of fantasy and the land of the impossible. So for life to bring me halfway across the world and give me a chance to be an actor, dedicate my life to it….it just fills me with gratitude. Everyday. It makes me believe in things like destiny and the idea of a calling. I literally get to live the life I dreamed of as a child. Everyday. I want to pass that on and share it with the world.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
In a nutshell, I am an artist navigating my way through the concrete jungle of New York City.
Why did you choose a career as an actor?
I think it chose me. If you were not an actor you would have been….wondering what I wanted to do with my life.
Who is your biggest support besides your family and friends?
Besides family and friends, I think it’s all you wonderful people who decide to watch my work and support my journey as an artist. It means so much to me to have your support. I would like to give a shoutout to the wonderful casting directors who are supporters of mine. I’m also so grateful to be a part of a wonderful artistic community in New York. I surrounded by artists excelling in their fields which inspires me constantly to push myself.
Why do you think some people choose difficult paths than others?
Life could have been easier for you too. Why did you choose such a difficult career? I think people choose their paths for too many reasons to name but no matter what Career one chooses, I find there are difficulties and obstacles no matter what. I only hope and wish that whatever path one walks on, it’s a path of their heart, because it makes the difficulties a bit easier to bear.
Tell us about your favorite project.
For me, my favorite project is always the one I’m working on next. When I start working on something, it’s because I love something about it and it quickly takes over my life.
What sort of difficulties actors face in today’s world when everything is on social media?
Social media can be so tricky to navigate. I think one of the biggest difficulties an actor faces with social media is equating one’s validation, self-worth, talent or the ability to play a part with the number of followers or likes one has. I’m learning that the most important thing for an artist in authenticity. If you aren’t careful or aware of it, social media can create some distance between your authentic self and your avatar online which I think can be hard for an actor
What inspires you each day?
One of the best things about inspiration in NYC is that you can find it anywhere.
When did you realize you wanted to be an actor?
I grew up with Bollywood and I wanted to be an actor before I realized so. I think it solidified when I first stepped onto a stage
Would you try your luck in Bollywood?
I would welcome the opportunity to work in Bollywood. There is so much wonderful work happening in India and I’d love to be a part of it.
If I have to look at your phone right now, what five apps are going to be in use?
Probably none. Besides limiting my interaction with my phone as much as possible, I try to close all my apps after I’m done using them.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Continuing to live my best life 😀
Some words for your fans…..
I love you all and I’m truly grateful for your support. You are the best. Thank you so much. For everything.
