In the latest episode of Bigg Boss 20, remarks made by Yung DSA and Aasif Khan about Aman Gandhi have drawn attention after Kriti Verma spoke up against the way femininity and women’s everyday activities were used while talking about him.
Yung DSA was heard making remarks such as, “Hai kya chudi bidi hai kya jhaaduwali,” to which Aasif responded, “Mangata hu.” Yung then said, “Chudi mangwate hai?” while laughing. Later, when Aman was called to the medical room, Yung also said, “Doctor Laali, lipstick bhi laga kar do thoda inko,” followed by references to “jhaaduwali” and Vaseline.
Reacting to these comments, Kriti Verma supported Aman and questioned the thinking behind using such references as an insult. She said, “Why is wearing bangles, using lipstick, doing household work or being associated with a ‘jhaaduwali’ considered something to mock a man for?”
Kriti further explained that these are normal parts of everyday life for women and there is nothing shameful about them. She said, “These are things women do every single day, and there is absolutely nothing shameful about any of them.”
She also pointed out that disliking or disagreeing with Aman is one thing, but bringing femininity into an insult is different. According to Kriti, using women’s everyday lives as a way to mock someone can reinforce the idea that these things are inferior.
Her comments put the focus back on the language being used against Aman and questioned whether such remarks should simply be dismissed as humour.
