Puneet Raj Gets Candid About An Actor’s Biggest Fear: ‘Getting The Next Project Matters More Than Forgetting Lines’

Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile star Puneet Raj is being lauded for his smashing performance as the antagonist Vikrant. He recently opened up about what he feels is the biggest fear an actor has while his presence on screen has had a huge impact on viewers. Interestingly, for him, it isn’t forgetting dialogues or delivering a poor performance.

 

 

When asked if an actor fears forgetting lines, giving a weak performance, or becoming emotionally repetitive over time, Puneet said the biggest pressure comes much earlier in the journey.

“For an actor, especially in the initial stage, the biggest fear is when the next project will come and how soon it will come. That pressure is always there,” he said.

Puneet explained that an actor’s family background also makes a difference. Since he comes from a non-film family, he had to build his career on his own.

“I don’t have any actor in my family. I’m the only one who has reached this point in showbiz. During my struggling days, I would visit production houses and keep trying for work. I was never worried about whether I could perform a role. I used to get a call from home every evening which used to make me worried about when I will get work.”

The actor said it was much harder to get work before the COVID-19 pandemic. While more opportunities opened up later with the rise of OTT platforms, he feels the industry still has its challenges.

“Today, actors are getting more work, but some producers still don’t pay on time. Sometimes, a good actor is compared with an influencer, and the person with more followers earns more. The journey of an actor is difficult. I won’t call it a struggle, but there is definitely a lot of pressure because earning money is our bread and butter.”

Puneet also made it clear that forgetting dialogues is not something that worries him.

“A good actor reads the script properly before facing the camera. You might feel nervous while working with a senior actor in the beginning, but that goes away with time. For me, the bigger concern has always been getting the next opportunity.”

Sharing a personal memory, Puneet revealed that before his father’s passing, he always wished to become a successful actor while his father was there to witness it.

“My mother, father and my wife have supported me throughout this journey. Without them, I wouldn’t have reached here. Today, my biggest dream is to give my family a good life. Apart from that, I’m not afraid of anything else. With time, I’m becoming more mature in my craft,” he concluded.
