Samridhii Shukla, who essays the role of Abhira in Rajan Shahi’s popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is on cloud nine after she and co-star Rohit Purohit (Armaan) were crowned the “Romance Ke King Aur Queen” at Star Plus’ Fashion Ke Rang, Rishton Ke Sang. The title, decided entirely through audience voting, holds a special place in her heart as it reflects the immense love fans have showered on the iconic couple over the last two and a half years.
“The Love That Fans Have Given Armaan And Abhira Is Bigger Than Any Award”
Speaking about the recognition, Samridhii shared,
“When I came to know that we were chosen as the winners for the King and Queen of Romance, I was extremely happy. In fact, I was ecstatic. This recognition is far bigger than any other accolade because it comes directly from the audience. The fans chose us, and that makes it incredibly special.”
She believes the secret behind Armaan and Abhira’s popularity lies in the realism of their journey.
“Rajan Shahi sir creates not only good stories and good pairs but realistic stories and flawed characters. By flawed, I mean they are human. Nothing is black or white. We all make mistakes, and Armaan and Abhira do too. That is what makes them relatable,” she said.
Reflecting on the couple’s evolution, Samridhii added,
“Armaan and Abhira have gone through so many transitions, so many struggles, differences, separations and reunions. They have dealt with family issues, trauma, loss and challenges that real couples face. Yet, at the end of the day, they stand beside each other, holding hands and facing life together.”
According to her, the couple’s appeal extends beyond romance.
“They are not just about love. They are about struggles, trust, misunderstandings and growth. There have been moments when they were not on the same page, and there were times when they didn’t trust each other. But ultimately, their love wins above everything else.”
Thanking viewers for the overwhelming support, she said,
“To everyone who voted for us, thank you so much. You made us the King and Queen of Romance despite so many wonderful couples being part of Star Plus. The fact that fans took out time to vote for us fills me with gratitude.”
Samridhii also acknowledged the support of the entire Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai team.
