Amal Sehrawat, who has been a part of projects like Sarkar 3 and Satya 2 and shows such as Choti Sarrdaarni and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, believes everyone in the industry goes through patches where they question everything. He shared that he himself has been through it, but meditation helped him during that time.
He said,
“I don’t think anyone in this industry avoids periods of self-doubt. I’ve had those moments. What’s helped me more than anything is meditation. I practise it every day without fail. It doesn’t make the problems disappear, but it gives you enough distance from them to think clearly. Instead of feeling buried by a situation, you start to see it for what it is and figure out what actually needs to change.”
“For me it’s been less about finding peace and more about finding clarity and the steadiness to keep going,” he added.
One of the most meaningful moments of his career came when he shared the screen with Amitabh Bachchan in Sarkar 3. He said,
“It’s a very specific memory. My entire family has grown up absolutely devoted to Amitabh Bachchan. So when I got to share screen space with him in Sarkar 3, there was a moment where I just had to take it all in.”
“But what made it truly emotional wasn’t my own excitement; it was seeing my parents’ faces. That look of pride, that happiness – it’s not something you can manufacture or replicate. It made me feel incredibly grateful and, honestly, even more hungry to keep working and growing so I can give them more of those moments,” he added.
Reflecting on how the industry has changed, he believes the fundamentals remain exactly the same. Amal Sehrawat said,
“The core of it hasn’t changed at all. Professionalism, punctuality, and respect for your craft and for the people around you – those things still matter just as much as they always did. What’s shifted is the machinery around it.”
He mentioned that the biggest change he has seen is how auditions work now. He said,
“Earlier, if you weren’t physically in Mumbai, you were essentially out of the loop. Now an actor can record from anywhere in the world and be considered for projects without having to uproot their life. Once something moves forward, then you travel and take it from there. That’s a genuinely meaningful shift because it’s opened the door for so many talented people who earlier just didn’t have the means to be in the right place at the right time.”
At the heart of everything, curiosity is what continues to drive him. He said,
“Curiosity, more than anything else. I genuinely believe that the day you stop being curious, you stop growing, not just as an actor but as a person. I pay attention to people, to how they speak, how they react, and what they carry with them.”
“Every person has a story with real texture to it, and the more you understand that, the more truthfully you can portray it. Growth as an actor doesn’t come from a single source. It comes from conversations, travel, failure, and observation – all of it. I just try to stay open to all of it and let it feed into the work,” Amal ended.
