Parin Multimedia and Colors TV recently rolled out their first launch of 2026, titled Mahadev & Sons. The show features Shakti Anand, Sneha Wagh, and Manasi Salvi among fresh and noteworthy cast members.
The story is set in Hardoi and opened by showing the powerful Bajpai family which has two daughters, Bhanu and Vidya. The sisters share a seemingly unbreakable bond until Vidya marries Mahadev, an orphan their father took under his wing many years ago. While their parents eventually accept it, Bhanu still holds a grudge against her sister and Mahadev for breaking their family. Years later, Vidya and Mahadev are seen living opposite the Bajpai family with their three sons, a daughter, and one of Vidya’s brothers. Bhanu lives with her mother, brother and his wife, and two children for whom she took guardianship after their parents passed away.
The story unfolds as Bhanu vows to ensure that Mahadev’s family falls apart while Mahadev strives to ensure his children remain grounded in family values and responsibility. The conflict gets deeper when his sons fall in love going against his order of them marrying girls of his choice rather than their own. Bhanu sees this as an opportunity to see Mahadev and his sons separated.
Firstly, looking at the story, it is fantastic that television is returning to its roots of family values and love against the odds, especially given the exhausting plague of love-triangles in the last few years. It is fresh and undoubtedly stands out. The separation and family conflict is also relatable given that more Indian families are facing such issues worldwide. It has so far beautifully touched on how the strongest bonds can become fragile, and how love still exists even with separation, like in the case of Vidya and her mother. It further develops into how one generation’s trauma can extend to the next. These are all concepts which are so relevant in today’s times, and it is great that we have such a show now.
In terms of the performances, where does one even begin with this stellar lineup? Shakti Anand comes in as the powerful yet loving Mahadev, and it’s quite nice to see how he transitions from his scenes of love with Vidya to his scenes of fear and discipline with his sons. Sneha Wagh plays the graceful and motherly Vidya. Sneha adds everything necessary to make Vidya one of the most endearing characters of the show. Manasi Salvi delivers a performance that’s rightly intimidating and magnetic. Her showcase of Bhanu’s controlled fury makes for a riveting performance no doubt.
Deepak Khati, Mohit Joshi and Aasim Khan each portray their respective characters of Ashish, Ketan and Dheeraj superbly, aptly conveying their unique personalities along with the fears they each hold. Garvita Sadhwani is also impressive as Rajji, as the character carries expectations of her mother and her own aspirations, much like Mahadev’s sons. Viewers have also got to see some glimpses of Garvita and Aasim’s chemistry, and they promise to be a sparkling pair when the time comes. Neha Rana is another strong performer as Narmada, a smart and simple girl struggling to get Ketan on the same page in terms of their relationship. Veteran actress Nishigandha Wad is delightful as always in her role of Vidya and Bhanu’s mother Radha, who carries her pain in silence and whose opinions are regularly dismissed by Bhanu.
The show also succeeds in giving a feel of its location; the sets give a clear indication of the contrasting households, and of the city of Hardoi. Getting a taste of lesser-known locations of India is always a plus point for international viewers.
Mahadev and Sons is just what we need right now and hopefully helps pave the way for more shows to take up family concepts which as mentioned earlier, returns us to our roots and a big reason why Indian television stands out.
