Reality show Chhoriyan Chali Gaon made its debut on our screens this year, and saw female celebrities go to Bamuliya village in Madhya Pradesh, India, to live and compete to become the number one Gaon Ki Beti. Anita Hassanandani Reddy was declared the winner, and it was one of the most deserving wins on reality television.
Right from the start, Anita was ready to embrace the village life and braved her way through every challenge with a smile and goodness. The show was quite intense in terms of the competition. There were some contestants who were overly competitive, and the show often felt like watching one of those American shows with mean girls in college. Despite all of this, Anita never forgot her sense of humanity and kindness. Even when she was often seen as a threat, and called various names, she took it sportingly and marched on.
He bonds on the show have also been beautiful to watch. Her bond with Dolly Javed formed in the first week and now continues forever. Other bonds of Anita’s which really stood out was with Surbhi, Samridhi, and Aishwarya. A moment which really stood out was when Anita bravely questioned the inconsistent practices on the show, like having a select few having to go first almost every time, giving others a chance to watch how to do the test (pariksha) better. This was an observation of the audience, and as a contestant, you really must have the bravery and a spine to call these things out, and Anita proved she has it.
In fiction shows, we often watch the strength of a mother, but Anita showcased this in a reality show too. There was a military obstacle course test which they had to do, and the test was no easy one. Witnessing Anita perform that will give you goosebumps because the strength or ‘shakti’ of a mother was clearly visible, and Anita went on to win that test. Not just this, but Anita won many tests whether it was physical, creative, or social.
Witnessing Anita Hassanandani Reddy on Chhoriyan Chali Gaon was an experience I am never forgetting. I always admired the actress and TV personality she is, but now my respect has grown tenfold. Her journey proves that along with smartness; kindness, empathy, and willpower matter too. We witnessed a Maa, Beti, Bahu, and Patni proving her power and beating the odds in a reality show and not a fiction one. She is undoubtedly the most deserving to win the title, and I’m so glad she did!
Congratulations Anita Hassanandani Reddy! You’re not just Bharat KI Beti, but Duniya Ki Beti now!
