“Over the years, every festival has taken on a deeper significance for me. As a child, Diwali was all about lights, sweets, crackers, and new clothes. It was a time filled with excitement, celebration, and togetherness with family and friends in my village. At that age, none of us truly grasped the deeper meaning of these occasions — it was simply about joy and festivity,” he expressed.
“As we grow older, we start seeking the true essence behind these celebrations. Diwali is not only about lighting up our homes but also about illuminating our lives with positivity and gratitude. Beyond the rituals, it’s about understanding why we celebrate, what it signifies, and how it inspires us to bring light where there is darkness,” he added.
“When something is a priority, you always find time for it. Even when I’m working or shooting, we make it a point to celebrate as a family. I have a few personal rituals, but ultimately, the way we celebrate depends on my family’s wishes. Festivals, to me, are about togetherness and recharging ourselves with positive energy.”
This year, however, Aham will observe the festival in a more subdued manner.
“I have lost my uncle recently, so we won’t be celebrating Diwali like we usually do. We may just light a small diya and keep it low-key. I am praying that his soul rests in peace,” he shared.
Aham Sharma’s message this Diwali is one of reflection, gratitude, and spreading light beyond celebrations.
