Mangal Lakshmi remains one of television’s most popular shows, enjoying a loyal viewership across the globe. The first half of the show, starring Deepika Singh as Mangal, is ushering in a new chapter for Mangal where her marriage with Kapil has been fixed — but many questions arise from this. Let’s try to understand everything we need to about this current track.
Mangal agreed to marry Kapil in order for her mother Shanti to undergo the operation, else she threatened not to go ahead with it. This is also Kapil’s mother Pratima’s wish, as she has wanted to make Mangal her daughter-in-law for a long time. Kapil is a good man with morals and ethics, and is a genuinely good friend of Mangal. While Pratima has been kind to Mangal, a different side of her is being seen due to her greed in making Mangal her daughter-in-law. She joined hands with Saumya in some stages of finalising this alliance, and she also harbours ill feelings for Kusum, who sees her as a friend. Pratima finds it hard to accept Mangal’s bond with Kusum and Sudesh.
However, the Saxenas are not innocent either. The family has been behaving in the most toxic manner recently. They all accused Mangal of Sudesh ji’s murder, and now that he has memory loss and cannot take the shock of Mangal and Adit’s divorce, they want Mangal to pretend to still be Adit’s wife. Kusum has always been television’s best mother-in-law, but sadly, even she has been using Mangal as per her convenience and selfishly does not want Mangal to remarry.
Where do we even begin with THE Adit Saxena? The man has no right over Mangal anymore and in fact should be grateful to Mangal for taking care of his father, but chooses to question Mangal over her marriage to Kapil. He made claims like she’s a mother of two, and asks for how long the ‘affair’ has been going on. Adit is the same man who had an extra-marital affair and remarried, all while being a father of two himself!
This begs the question: what should Mangal do? Where does her happiness lie? A recent promo with her sister Lakshmi aired, and we are so happy to see the two sisters together again, but in it, Mangal also asked the question: can a woman not make a name for herself on her own? Does she have to be tied to her husband’s name? And we wonder if this is where her happiness truly lies; in being an independent woman taking care of her children and parents. But how will she convince Shanti? And how will this affect her relationship with Kapil? And as an added question; will SAUMYA EVER BE EXPOSED??? She has been committing one crime after the next but is not getting exposed at all.
In this chaotic period in Mangal’s life, we stand by her, and hope she finds a solution and takes a stand for her self-respect, as she has done before. She needs to stop being used as per the Saxenas’ convenience and find an amicable solution to Shanti and Pratima’s concerns. Meanwhile, Deepika Singhcontinues to portray Mangal in a graceful and endearing way, and helps make the character so lovable.
Mangal Lakshmi airs everyday around the world on Colors.
