Kumkum Bhagya began its fourth generation a few months ago, and the refreshing new couple of Raunak and Prarthana quickly captured viewers’ hearts. Played by Akshay Dev Bindra and Pranali Rathod, their chemistry has become one of the most admired in recent memory. But to everyone’s shock, when the moment finally arrived for their wedding, Prarthana ended up marrying someone else instead of Raunak!
In a shocking twist, Prarthana marries Shivansh, a recent addition to the show, who turns out to be the biological son of Smita and Raunak’s half-brother. Seeking revenge for being abandoned by his mother and father as a child, Shivansh deceives Prarthana into marrying him as a way to get back at Smita.
While one may sympathize with Shivansh’s pain, his method of seeking vengeance was deeply flawed. In the process, he hurt two innocent people, Prarthana and Raunak, who had nothing to do with his past. Hopefully, this does not get brushed aside and is addressed properly in the coming episodes.
Though the drama made for gripping television, it’s heartbreaking to see a couple who finally found love and understanding torn apart. To make matters worse, Prarthana is manipulated by her adoptive mother into accepting the marriage “for the sake of the family.” She’s been silenced and oppressed for far too long, and viewers continue to wait for her to take a firm stand.
It’s worth noting that Pranali Rathod previously portrayed the powerful and inspiring Durga and she undoubtedly has the range to deliver a stunning transformation if a Prarthana 2.0 is in the works.
The fan-favorite pairing of #PraNak had started gaining real momentum, and we can only hope they get the clarity and closure they deserve.
