In Celebration of the first all-Female Crew to visit Space: What If These Female TV Protagonists Formed a Space Crew?

Spread the love

April 14, 2025, marked a historic moment, as the first all-female crew ventured into space—over six decades after Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space in 1963. The Blue Origin NS-31 flight featured an inspiring lineup: pop icon Katy Perry, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, producer Kerianne Flynn, NASA aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, veteran journalist Gayle King, and journalist Lauren Sánchez.

To celebrate this monumental achievement, we decided to imagine which female television protagonists would make the perfect space crew—women who’ve inspired us on screen and would surely shine among the stars.

Abhira – Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai
Abhira has always stayed true to herself, even when the world pushed her to conform. She’s weathered many difficult situations, emerging stronger each time. Her journey into space would symbolize the power of self-belief and the importance of protecting one’s self-respect—it can truly take you beyond limits.

Mannat – Mannat: Har Khushi Paane Ki
Mannat pursues her passion for food wholeheartedly and works tirelessly to support her family. Though she has never let her adoption define her, she’s often made to feel unwanted or inadequate. Her space mission would be a powerful triumph over those who doubted her worth—a celebration of inner strength and self-made success.

Amruta – Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye
Amruta has faced countless challenges, both before and after marriage. What sets her apart is her emotional depth and ability to understand what others cannot. We’re sure she’d return from space with a beautiful poem capturing the wonder of the cosmos—a lyrical soul on an interstellar journey.

Mangal – Mangal Lakshmi
Mangal is slowly carving out a name for herself while fighting for her children’s custody. Her presence on this fictional space crew would symbolize the power of second chances and new beginnings. Her spaceflight would silence anyone who questioned her education or abilities—and inspire newfound respect from her children.

Sailee – Udne Ki Aasha
Often looked down upon for her modest background, Sailee has turned her love for flowers and decor into a successful livelihood. Her inclusion in this mission would send a strong message: your background does not define your future. From being called a phoolwali to becoming an astronaut, Sailee would show young girls and boys that dreams have no limits.

While this might feel like something straight out of a dream sequence—how amazing would it be if this space mission with these five iconic characters could actually happen?
Let us know what you think. Who would you send to space from your favorite shows?
