The show featured Sujay Reu as Shri Ram, Prachi Bansal as Mata Sita, Basant Bhatt as Lakshman, Nirbhay Wadhwa as Hanuman and Nikitin Dheer as Ravan. Right from the opening episode, Shrimad Ramayan was a delight. It grabbed your attention and held you through as the story progressed. The cast was spectacular in their respective roles, and many scenes have become memorable and iconic from the show. The story also focused on Luv and Kush (played by Shourya Mandoriya and Atharv J Jhony), the sons of Shri Ram and Mata Sita, and their journey of learning values and becoming capable future leaders. During this, Shrimad Ramayan also shed light on Sahastra Ravana, played by Praneet Bhat, and how Mata Sita eventually slayed him.
Shrimad Ramayan‘s speciality was how relevant every part of the epic was to the audience. The parallels between the situations they faced and what people face now were clear. The language was simple to understand on the show, and overall, the show struck the right balance between the quality of the story and the quality of the aesthetics. Every figure in the story and their development were beautifully executed, too.
Every cast and crew member deserves a salute for giving us this show, which will be treasured for many, many years to come. Siddharth Kumar Tewary and Swastik Productions’ proved once again why they are the leaders in the genre, and we can always be grateful for Shrimad Ramayan.
If you’re looking to re-watch the show at any time, Shrimad Ramayan streams on Sony LIV worldwide.
