At a recent 10th-anniversary roundtable conference of Swastik Productions, Mahabharat actor Saurav Gurjar shared his portrayal of the Mighty Bheem in the epic drama brought him worldwide recognition and a unique connection with fans.
One of the most memorable moments for him occurred during his time in the US, where he was recognised as Bheem rather than a wrestler. “In the US, Indians recognised me as Bheem” he recalled, sharing a story of fans being surprised to see him in a normal setting at a supermarket.
Saurav also highlighted the challenges of playing the role of Bheem. While shooting for his first scene, where he had to lift Kunti, it was physically challenging, requiring nearly 20 retakes.
“I wasn’t used to interacting closely with women, so it was uncomfortable initially, and that was the first time on the set I met Shafaq (Kunti), ” he admitted.
Saurav Gurjar also shares his acting career began unexpectedly through a Facebook post. Despite the tough start, Saurav’s performance left a lasting impact, earning him respect both in India and Globally.
