Samridhii Shukla has become one of the most talked about and admired actresses in the Indian television industry. Today marks an extraordinary occasion for her as it was on this day, two years ago that the world saw Samridhii Shukla on their screens for the very first time!
On 22 August 2022, Samridhii’s debut show Saavi Ki Savaari premiered. Saavi ringing the bell as she entered a Mahakal temple was our beginning of witnessing the journey of Samridhii Shukla. Her fine performance in the unconventional and path-breaking show can never be forgotten. When we spoke to Samridhii after the show’s closure, she described her debut role of Saavi as not the ‘regular television girl’. She added,
“She is taking care of the family solely and singlehandedly and she is in a male-dominated industry which is driving a rickshaw but she is not changed by the environment. She keeps her core values very strong. She keeps her respect for elders and ethics and values in life very strong. And she tries to navigate through everything that comes her way. And I think that’s the most admirable quality and when I came to know about it; I just couldn’t wait to do this role. I think any girl would be lucky enough to have this role as their first television role as the main lead and I’m extremely grateful.”
Thankfully we did not have to wait long until we had Samridhii back on screen as she entered television’s longest-running show ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,’ where she is currently leading the fourth generation of the show. Samridhii essays the role of Abhira, a lawyer and strong-willed woman who emphasises the importance of never losing your self-respect no matter the circumstance. Abhira fights against regressive thoughts about individuals and daughters-in-law making her a strong force on television resonating with the masses. In our exclusive chat about Abhira and the show, Samridhii expressed her deep love for Abhira and shared her gratitude for all the love the audience shows her for her role.
“It’s a very small career of mine, I’m just a baby right now but I feel so grateful to be receiving messages from all across the world because the viewership of Yeh Rishta is so phenomenal, it’s around the world, its brilliant. So I love it and all I can say is thank you for understanding what I’m doing as Abhira.”
