Star Plus and Rolling Tales Productions launched their new offering,’Udne Ki Aasha.’ The show, produced by Rahul Kumar Tewary, features Kanwar Dhillon and Neha Harsora in lead roles.
The show tells the story of Sachin and Sailee and their respective families. Sachin‘s family consists of his parents and two brothers. Sachin’s father is a loco pilot who has just retired and now feels the pressure of maintaining a peaceful household. Sailee’s family consists of her parents and her brother and sister. The family owns a flower and food stall. Sailee sacrificed her education for her siblings but still believes in her dreams of being a successful businesswoman with a world-class flower shop. Sachin, on the other hand, is a taxi driver who recently got fired and whose anger knows no limits, mainly due to past experiences yet to be revealed.
Both families have a relatable and realistic story, and they both are from middle-class households, an unusual situation to see onscreen. The Maharashtrian backdrop and feel add to the freshness and charm of the show. The outdoor settings have also been working wonders, giving a better taste of a day in Sailee and Sachin‘s life. Sachin’s anger and actions make you want to know more about his backstory, such as the crime he committed and who was the girl in his flashback in the village. We hope that this is revealed soon to better understand him.
The dialogues of the show are quite noteworthy too. At Sachin’s father’s retirement ceremony, he very gracefully gave it back to Mr Joy’s snarky comments on stage. Another one was when Sailee’s brother, Dilip, was comparing a middle-class life to a game of snakes and ladders.
The show also rests on the capable shoulders of its cast. Kanwar Dhillon is on the way to giving another explosive performance, and we hope Sachin’s journey is beautiful filled with lots of growth. Neha Harsora could very well be the surprise package of the show. The young actress effortlessly carries out Sailee, and we cannot wait to see her excel as her character progresses. Sanjay Narvekar steals your heart in every scene in which he features. The softness and wisdom with which he portrays Paresh (Sachin’s father) is commendable. Radhika Vidyasagar, Sneha Raikar, Ravi Mahashabde, Sahil Balani, Puru Chibber, and the rest of the cast are praiseworthy too.
Every character is somewhat likeable despite their negative qualities, which shows strength in characterization.
Overall Udne Ki Aasha presents a relatable and charming story, which deals with acceptance, gratefulness and empathy. We look forward to seeing how Sachin and Sailee’s lives and stories intertwine, and how they both give wings to each other’s dreams and families.
Udne Ki Aasha airs every day on Star Plus at 9 p.m. in India, 6:30 p.m. in South Africa, on Utsav Plus at 7 p.m. in the UK, and streams on Hulu in the US.
