Most of us are usually inspired by someone or the other to follow a certain professional path. For Aditya Deshmukh the actors who inspire him every day are actors Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan and also mentions a Hollywood actor. The actor shares why.
“I think all this while, I was inspired by Akshay Kumar sir and Shah Rukh Khan sir, but the one person who really inspires me is Heath Ledger. His performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight is mind-blowing. I want to do something like this in my life. This is what acting is all about, breaking barriers, rules, and becoming something different. During our time, it was very different; a guy actually locked himself to get into the skin of the character. It was very new for all of us. We got to know about method-acting from that time, and I personally understood more about this approach. Such performances had been done by many Hollywood actors before, but it was Heath Ledger’s performance that I saw for the first time, and it truly inspired me to become an actor, to be something more,” he says.
Aditya admires Shah Rukh Khan’s philanthropist side and his oratory skills.
“He possesses knowledge that every actor should acquire from others. I always aspire to give interviews in a sensible manner, similar to how SRK does it. I want to be productive in my conversations and inspire the person I’m speaking with. Today, actors come from various educational backgrounds, be it graduates or master’s degree holders. Personally, I myself hold a master’s degree in marketing and I’m happy to have done that. Whenever I watch interviews of great actors, it motivates me, and I am grateful to have witnessed Shah Rukh Khan’s era, seeing both his ups and downs. Today, he stands as the second richest actor in the world, which is truly commendable. His journey and achievements give me a sense of satisfaction that I have chosen the right role model. It’s not about blindly following him; instead, I aim to keep myself updated with current affairs. If someone asks me about ongoing events in the world, I should be able to engage in meaningful discussions. That’s something I truly look up to,” he adds.
For evolution and personal growth one needs to have a mentor in life, feels the actor.
“If there’s no mentor, there’s no one to guide you. Daniel D-Lewis is my mentor from Hollywood. I want to become someone like them. In our industry, Shah Rukh Khan is my mentor. He has great knowledge, as I said, and that’s why I consider him my mentor. When you have a focus in your life, you’ll know which path you want to choose, and you will set your goals and have your own aims in life. So, you create agendas for your life, make lists of dos and don’ts, merits, and demerits. Having a mentor is very important; it helps you understand where you’re coming from and where you’re heading,” he explains.
